Medium Vintage Leaded Stained Glass Window with Glasgow-Style Rose

Medium Vintage Leaded Stained Glass Window with Glasgow-Style Rose

A charming example of early twentieth-century leaded glass, this medium stained glass window centers on a beautifully stylized rose in warm amber and golden yellow, with a glowing red-orange heart and soft green leaves on either side. Below the bloom, slender leaded lines curve into an elegant elongated stem, all set within clear glass panes that let the colors float against whatever lies beyond.

The window rests in its original white-painted wooden frame, now beautifully chippy and timeworn, with two original hinges still attached along the top edge, a sign it once opened as part of a working window. Its graceful rose design and weathered frame make it a wonderful piece of architectural history, full of color, light, and character.

Condition
Good vintage condition, consistent with age and use. The stained glass and leading appear intact. The painted wooden frame shows significant chipping, peeling, and paint loss with exposed wood, and the original hinges show rust. These characteristics are expected of salvaged architectural pieces of this age and contribute to the authenticity and character of the piece without detracting from its beauty. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.

Collected Notes
Leaded stained glass windows brought color and light into homes throughout the late Victorian, Edwardian, and interwar years, finishing doors, transoms, and casements in even modest houses. The stylized rose, with its swirling petals and simple geometric lines, is closely associated with the Glasgow Style of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements and became one of the most beloved motifs of the period. As homes were updated, many of these windows were removed, and original examples like this one are now treasured as architectural salvage.

Why We Collected It
We fell for the warm, golden glow of this rose and the way it seems to float within the clear glass. Paired with its wonderfully chippy frame and original hinges, it has exactly the kind of honest, lived-in character we love, a small piece of a home's history that's ready to bring light into a new one.

Tisbury House Styling Notes
Hang this window in front of an existing window where the light can shine through the rose, or lean it on a mantel, shelf, deep windowsill, or kitchen counter. Its medium size makes it especially versatile in a bathroom, stair landing, or reading nook, and it looks lovely in a sunroom, garden room, or potting shed alongside terracotta, greenery, and other weathered finds. It would also pair beautifully with our larger rosebud stained glass window for a collected display.
