Off-White French Antique Stoneware Escargot Pots

Charming French antique escargot pots, each handmade from stoneware and finished in a soft white glaze. These little pots were traditionally used to bake and serve snails in garlic and herb butter, a beloved French classic, and they bring a touch of bistro charm to any table.

Because each pot was made by hand, they show gentle variations in shape, glaze, and texture that give the each pot a warm, artisanal character. Small, sturdy, and endlessly useful, they're as lovely for serving and entertaining as they are for display. Sold individually. Price is for one pot.

Country of Origin: France
Estimated Date: Late 1800s
Material: Handmade stoneware with off-white glaze
Dimensions: 1¼" X 1¼"

Condition
Good antique condition, consistent with age and use. The pots may show minor glaze variations, light surface marks, small rim chips, or crazing expected of handmade stoneware of this age. These characteristics contribute to the authenticity and character of the pieces and do not detract from their beauty or function. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.

Collected Notes
Escargots de Bourgogne, snails baked in garlic and parsley butter, have long been a treasured dish in French homes and bistros. Individual stoneware pots like these were designed to hold a single snail each, keeping them hot and bubbling in the butter from oven to table. Handmade pots in good condition, have become a favorite among collectors of French kitchenware.

Why We Collected It
We love the simplicity of these little white pots and the handmade quality that makes each one slightly different. Each individual pot captures that effortless French way of making even everyday cooking feel beautiful.

Tisbury House Styling Notes
Serve escargots the traditional way, or use the pots for dips, sauces, salt, olives, or little desserts like crème brûlée bites and mousse. They also make sweet holders for tea lights, tiny succulents, or rings and trinkets, and look lovely lined up on open kitchen shelving alongside other French stoneware.
